First Year Experience (FYE)
FYE-100 Life Unpacked (2 credits)
This class provides first-year students with support and guidance in a variety of skills and practices necessary to becoming a successful college student. The course covers studying and note-taking skills, library and research skills, and making an effective transition from high school to college. The class also features a series of presentations from faculty in various disciplines within the General Education curriculum, designed to introduce students to the various academic possibilities and career paths for majors, minors, and electives. Finally, students in the class will participate in a number of cultural events.
FYE-101 Designing Your Career (1 credits)
This one-credit, in-person course is designed to help university students (including first-year students) strengthen their career readiness by developing self-awareness, exploring career pathways, developing professional branding materials, navigating professional conflict, and researching experiential education opportunities. The course incorporates principles from Designing Your Life (DYL), AI-supported career research, and practical strategies for securing and maximizing internships, clinicals, fieldwork, and supervised practice experiences for real world applications.
